What is the average percentage of fuel savings incurred by adding winglets to aircraft? How has the 777 been designed so that no winglets are required?

The main purpose of the winglet is to overcome the up wash(vortices)   during flight,at the time of flight there is a chance of high pressure air down the wing to come over the wing where the air pressure is less,if this happens the drag on the wing increases and the fuel consumption increases.by using the winglets the drag on the wing can be reduced and the fuel consuption also decreases.

The 777 model has the raked wingtip ie., there is more sweep at the wing tip than rest of the wing. This serves the same purpose as the winglets do,by  increasing the total wing span and aspect ratio by increasing the sweep at at the tip. This reduces the lift induced-drag,wingtip vortices and increases the fuel efficiency! infact the raked wingtips are more efficient than the winglets. The B787,747F,767 all model   has the same raked wingtip.

This is same as other wing tip devices. but the added advantage is SPAN>SO THE ASPECT RATIO>> and WE GET MORE LIFT. wINg pERFORmAncE tWEaKED !!   ;-)The 777 model has the raked wingtip ie., there is more sweep at the wing tip than rest of the wing. This serves the same purpose as the winglets do,by  increasing the total wing span and aspect ratio by increasing the sweep at at the tip. This reduces the lift induced-drag and increases the fuel efficiency! infact the raked wingtips are more efficient than the winglets.
