WHO SPOIL OUR FEILD ( Aircraft Maintenance Engineering)?

Published by: Manisha Kapoor on 17th May 2009 | View all blogs by Manisha Kapoor
AS YOU KNOW AFTER FINISHING COURSE WE HAVE TO WORK UNPAID OR WE GET VRY LITTLE AMOUNT OF SALARY? AS IN OTHER FEILD EVEN STIPEND IS VRY MUCH HIGER THEN OUR STARTING SALARY THEN WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS??

  1. OUR SENIORS-THEY WERE READY TO WORK UNPAID.
  2. GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
  3. AME SCHOOLS
  4. GOVT & PRIVATE AIRLINES(ORGANISATION)
  5. DGCA
  6. PLEASE WRITE YOUR COMMENTS

HERE ARE FEW COMMENTS RECEIVED TO THIS QUESTION ON AMEVOICE ORKUT COMMUNITY--

  1. Aviation field is corrupted by Air force people because......they just entering into aviation and showing blady experience, and that's a great effect to young guns in the interviews............
  2. This is all due to bloody increase in the fuel surcharges.aviation ministry is trying to remove the suppliers from between so that charges could reduce to 10% but government is not agreeing with it.hope that fuel rate stabilizes as soon as possible.
  3. I think its the utmost fault of the f.....g policies of dgca. they are issuing new approvals for institutes inspite of knowing the present scenario,, then something ius there for govt. of india,,
i just dont understand y the damm hell they cant see the present situtation for ame field..
i just wanna ask ,, where wud they (ame trainees) go to earn their livings. shud they start to move their technical minds towards the hell of CRIME. shud we hold guns to earn our livings. ????? can anyone answer and if not ,, just ask us,, we have an ultimate solution:-
    1. first of all , recognise our certificates as graduate degree.
    2. restrict sorry ban the entry of air force personel in civil aviation..

    thats it!!!

  4. I think its our Institutes who show us the false glamour in the field before admissions, and later only we come to know that nothing happens in this field without 'JUGAAD'.
Institutes should be more responsible and atleast give proper placements or help us to get Apprenticeship.

  5. All ur opinion is gud,but 1 more factor, aviation minister or dgca should stop taking all other diploma holders or gets into this field.otherwise wats the use of ame course.
  6. Government of india doesnt have any controll over airforce people.. those ppl dont have any exprience on aircrfts.... but still they show 18 to 20 yrs exp.. n get the job...
  7. Organisations are hesitating in taking trainees in unpaid condition itself...entering this field is now a days very difficult...they should seriously think about this matter and there should be proper guidelines set by govnt..
  8. If they really have jobs...then these ppl give it to airforce ppl....
evry time they give a add for vacancy...thay ask for a min 5 yrs experience...
are yaar agar yahi log hume nahi lenge to...experience kya hu jaise freshers....hawa se laenge....???

and these days....as per i have heard....yaha par bhi..i mean airlines me bhi...u need a source to get a job...evry thing just ....is the opposite here ....

  9. ITS DGCA BCOZ EVERY YEAR DEY R GIVING APPROVAL 2 NEW INSTITUTES WHICH IS NT GOOD BCOZ ALREADY SO MANY INSTITUTES IN INDIA & EVRY YEAR NO OF STUDENTS PASSING FRM THESE INSTITUTES MUCH MORE THEN D REQUIRENT FROM AVIATION FEILD. & SECOND THING EVERY SESSION SO MANY STUDENTS R CLEARING DGCA EXAMS JUS BY READING OLD QUESTIONS MEANS DGCA PAPER PATTERN IS SO DWN LEVEL.... EVERY ONE CAN PASS IF THEY CAN READ OLD QUESTION PAPERS. .

PLEASE COMMENT FRIENDS----- LET'S RAISE OUR VOICE

    Hi....
You raised a very nice question that who spoiled this field?
there are so many reasons behind this, DGCA, AME schools, Govt of India, etc,,,
But this is not the question to be asked; we should think for the solution...
Inshaallah I will write in deep afterwards as I have to go to my workplace Thank you.................

    Hi,
you have put up a very right discussion in forum,Now the times have gone to blame on spreading mud over other shirts, it is the time to react. I think we should bring this discussion in front of government and industry, i am sure they can help us.

As we all know that AME schools are conducting admissions like anything which will ultimately increase the unemployment level in this sector, so we have to think of ways to overcome with problem. I request all of you to share your comment.

Waiting for your inputrs and suggestions.

As rightly said by saurabh,we should bring discussion forward and bring to notice. I think first we have to generate the importance of this issue by posting on orkut and other famous social networking sites and subsequently consent should be bring to notice to the aviation ministy and HRD also.

India has a well-developed and large civil aviation network. There are 122 airports in the country, controlled by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), of which 11 are international airports. The air services of the country were liberalised in 1994 through a move towards an open-skies policy of the government.Civil aviation sector in india has been badly hit in recent times by high ATF prices which made the ticket prices soar leading to a fall in demand.Almost all airlines have shown losses in the recent past and things dont look to improve unless some revolutionary changes are initiated by the government as well as by the airlines owner.

due to its a bad time for those student who ever pass out from college u know why !!!every one one know about this it is called "MANDI KA DAUR JB JOB KISI BHI SECTOR ME MILNA MUSKIL HI NHI NAMUMKIN HAI"ad we r related to aviation field than tell me now GOD also can't help us so chill maro or must join any course for ur future

Blamin the Air Force Persona is not right, my friends....and before u start to think that i am partial to them, lemme tell u that i ,too, am unpaid, frustrated, terrified and petrified to the gist!!! They have the experience and they want money...they r right on their part. It is the CAR to blame which requires just 50% marks to get admissions in the trg skools....and the hopeless DGCA people who dont even care to make 10 new questions a year. I have a lot 2 say on this account...everything needs to be reshuffled

i think, point #1, is not absoultly correct.
Reason- that time was also lack of chance as today. Only two airlines in pvt sector JET and SAHARA.
and as u know for appearing in HA and JE, experince must be 12 or 18 months.
that time, our collage was approved for LA and PE
that's why we worked unpaid for appearing in HA and JE experince.
i think,u know, that unpaid job was also taken after merathon troubles

Now to problem- no one is juniors and seniors after passing out our collages.only respect as per human being.
If u blaming to seniors, how it possible to unite all.
After all, u r also a seniors of juniors cader.

" all political leader is unite regading salary,fund.."
Ever u heared, any bill dropped in houses of salary,fund..of leader.

so be unite, try to unite ,never bleming ourselves.

kindly request ,#1 point should be out from this matter.

Now to solution- we were also taken such type of actions. u think, that time was no internat,no mobile..
    let us come to points-
" RAISE THIS QUESTION IN HOUSES,IN PRESENCE OF MIN. OF CIVIL AVITION"
    but never think,
"Itna jugar se to apna kam ban jaye ga"
    ALWAY FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHT's

    ok, thats all

    Dear All,

Reading all the comments above, i felt like giving my comments.
Who spoiled the filed. i.ie. AME. unfortunately i feel that the filed is spoiled by the people yourself. That is AME's and Technicians only.

    How????

There was not such a demand for AME when there was SAHARA, JET and other private airlines. AME's were given reasonable salary in the filed.
However, when there is an opportunity in GULF all the Technicians and AME's leave just in need of money.
When they come back from GULF they need more salary which will spoil intake of few technicians. So the concept of less payment for Technicians is that, they will earn handsome amount of money one day.

When people become AME they think they are genious. The respect given to others in the field is less. Where as in other countries our AME's are called one "Mechanics".

We should not forget that AME is not a diploma or a degree. So there is no Job for so called AME students other than aviation.

It is our responsibility that we respect what we study and make sure that others respect us only based on the work.

Remember the so called "Seniors" and other Airline staff are also from this background and they also will be well aware of the situation.

There is no harm in working for less amount of salary or even unpaid when you cannot look for opportunity in a IT filed or any other field which has numerous vaccancies.

Airforce people are much skilled that the Technicians and even AME's. But the think that differenciate in civil aviation is licence. These people will never get licence and will remain as technician only. Thats the reason they are given preference. AME technician job will never be a perfect finish as a personnel from Airforce.

AME diploma people have always a feeling that we are only technical people and knew about the aircraft. Other people are just fools. This mentality should change. Work like a normal person, there are plenty of opportunities other than line maintenance in aviation.

All these problems are happened because of over expectations from the part of students. The responsibility of this over expectation completely goes to AME schools.
At the time of admissions and consultation the college officials will rise the hope of the student up to heaven. Those officials will make the student think that this course is better that any other course and is of world class standard. Still aircraft or an air journey is in the dream of many. This makes it more attractive because all human beings have an internal drive to explore the unknown.
I know an official from a famous organisation who told to students, when they came for admissions that he is a British airways AME and came here to publicise this course and make others aware about this. He is earning 5Lakhs plus salary every month. Later when the student joined and get accustomed with the college he found that that person don’t even have a second paper. This is just an example.
Always in the aviation history of India it was a cool, beautiful and lucrative field for those who are standing outside the field. For Insiders except very few it is a story of hard work, agony ,mental and physical strain.
SO MY POINT IS THE AVIATION WAS JUST LIKE THIS AND STILL SAME..NOBODY SPOILED.
    AME UNION
The biggest problem we are facing is that we are totally scattered and WE DO NOT HAVE A UNION. So nobody will listen to our words. We don’t even know each other. We need a union and we need representatives in the DGCA. The AME schools will never allow us to do that because that may ill effect them at a later stage because they themselves are in short of facilities. We need to project this matter in front of public and public attention need to be brought into this matter.
Once if we have representatives in the DGCA we can deman for at least minimum things like
    1) Where ever there is an opening in the an airline /aviation company they should advertise the vacancy with all details. No back door entry. There more preference should be given to or it should be exclusively made for those who undergone 3 year AME training.
    2) When ever there is a complaint against a college DGCA officials should visit with student representatives and their opinion also should be considered.
    3) Fees for the course should be scrutinised and regularised.
    4) Minimum wages should be assured for persons with BAMEL. The length of period one should remain unpaid should be defined after that he must be paid. The minimum wages of a person with BAMEL and relevant experience in particular type of aircraft need to be fixed. Some regulations regarding manufactures course also should be defined.
5)New approvals to colleges and continued approvals to existing colleges for fresh intakes should be restricted as there is already a surplus number of students waiting for job. After AME course the student will not get job in any field other than aviation is the reason for requirement of this regulation. ( How may of the existing colleges have facilities as in CAR, leave facilities just think about instructors. How many of them are actually having relevant subject knowledge and experience about what they are teaching. You may say that DGCA officials will not compromise on standards, but I can assure you I can show you many colleges without facilities. There should be some rule by which the official will be prosecuted in case of lack of facilities in a school certified by him.)
    6) Minimum number of technical staff for every aircraft in each base should be defined and it should be regularly monitored. This itself will solve our problems.
There are many more requirements need to be raised by us.
Let us try for an AME UNION
    Remember UNITY IS STRENGTH.

    SENIORS AND GOVT. OF INDIA
We cannot blame our seniors because they worked for free because nobody was ready to pay them. They had no experience. Any fresh passed out don’t know what to do or how to do a job. So he need to be trained. Until the training is over he stayed unpaid. Later the company found that they will get free labour. So they removed him after giving a certificate and recruited new fresher. There is no law preventing a business man from this. He will be targeting the profit. In order to maximise the profit he is still using this strategy. Still if I am not ready to work for less payment 100 others will be ready. This competition is the reason for fewer payments.
When the number of student availability is less and strict labour laws are enforced regarding the number of man at work and qualifications salary problems can be overcame.
    DGCA

To certain extent DGCA is responsible for this crisis. They keep on giving approvals to new colleges and batches, new BAMELS and, new colleges. This should be controlled and the quality of student passing out from a college needs some improvement.
Many of the DGCA officials are favouring the private airlines and colleges to maximise their profit. Nobody will protest against this. Because those who are directly effected by this do not have a general body. They are scattered.

For all other fields except aviation those who have studied for 3 years, There are laws to enforce minimum wages. Those who have completed certain months of apprenticeship, There are laws to make him permanent and many laws like that.

CONSIDERING ALL THIS AND THINKING ABOUT OF THE FUTUTE OF MANY WHO GOT ATTRACTED TO THE COURSE AND AVIATION MY APPEAL TO YOU ALL IS RAISE POUR VOICE AGANIST THROUGH ALL MEDIAS ,NET,NEWS PAPER,CHANNELS ETC.DO NOT THINK THAT SOMEBODY ELSE WILL DO THAT,THAT IS NOT MY JOB,I HAVE SOME ONE TO RECOMEND AND I AM SAFE LIKE THAT.At least post this into one other website.
    Thank you all.

THIS AVIATION MAINTENANCE IS A BIG SHIT STUFF...TREAT IT AS ANYOTHER FIELD..DEMAND N SUPPLY IS THE CRITERIA...HOW MANY AIRCRAFTS ARE THERE IN INDIA? 1000 OR 1200?HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU NEED FOR THEIR MAINTENANCE?50000 0R 60000?THEN WHAT ALL OTHER PEOPLE CAN DO?THERE IS LOT OF POTENTIAL IN AUTO GARAGES..YOU CAN SUSTAIN YOURSELF WITHOUT THE HELP OF ANY BLOOD SUCKING AIRLINE..EVERY AIRLINE THINKS THAT IT PAYS A FORTUNE TO US,FOR THE WORK IT TAKES FROM US...FOR THE STRUGGLE WE HAVE TAKEN IN CLEARING DGCA EXAMS,APPROVED COURSE,ORAL EXAMS..WHAT WE R PAID IS JUST SUFFICIENT..ITS NOT A LUCRATIVE JOB ANYMORE..DO NOT FANCY TOO MUCH HERE..

    Aircraft Maint. vs AME Schools
Views from the members of AME voice are very informative & a feedback regarding the aircraft maint industry is quite appreciating . Presently our AME Schools courses & curriculum has a very wide gap between what actually is taught there and the work place . The ground realities are far away from what is projected to the students during the course.

@Most: Does any1 feel the passion of working on an aircraft. Its we who Make THe METAL fly...Aviation depends on 2 thins, 1) Pilots & 2) Maintenance Engg. Does any 1 recognize the diffrence between pilots & us...pilots spend huge money to become gloroius "Drivers" but we burn our own ATF for the same position & salary. To blame for our present situation, I also do feel sorry. but its our civil aviation authority whos responsible for this mess any how...be it approval to AME schools or be it the so cald mergers.(do u knw hw many jobs merger of airlines have cut). Its becoz of our hardwork that we r given respect by RTR examiners over pilots.

hey there! i am pursuing my ame training. dgca officials come here in our college timely for approval procedures. the college provides them with the hefty sum and they sign it! so, basically! unless the colleges as well as the dgca officials are not taken some strict actions by some strong body like the CBI...not even the police...not even the dgca central office.....nothing gonna change!and the most bitter truth in most of the ame schools is that standard of teaching is much worse than spoon feeding....give the questions to the students..make them go through the sem and send them to the dgca exams! i have to say that some fellows even my mates are really not sure what an aircraft is....and the worse thing......they need options to answer! and the godfather dgca cant stop making the same questions again and again!

I think I agree with Murty, it's a question of demand and supply, It is like this world over, Aircraft Maint. is not a lucrative trade, elsewhere too you have to put in low paid apprenticeships and the job is very uncertain, it totally depends on the economy. Line maintenance does not really employ that many people. With so many qualifications to choose from one should consider a more rewarding career. Nor is it that lucrative in the middle east any longer they know they can get cheap labour from Ind/pak/phillipines, employers tend to pay what they can get away with.

    now i raise my voice
is that any solution for ame's who are in such a phase ?
    answer is yes !!!!!!!!!!!!
that is if dgca recognize it equivalent to degree !!
now how it is done so?
we have to make our union and call for all ames throughout the country to protest against this,a rally or march toward the parliament or ministry of civil avation office to get our rights!! and raise our voice !!
we have to be in unity!!
as we get it to be recognized as degree the other field is open for us to fly.!!

First of all, entry through any other means into Aircraft maintenance should be Banned.
Everyone thinks, If we can pass all papers and score good grades we can get nice paying jobs. Wake up guy's, there are some things to be considered first.
    1) Do you have a great Financial background? Then you can enter this field through some means, because, This is India, the world's no.1 Corrupted country.
    2) Do you have political background? consider yourself in, because, All our airworthiness officers are puppets in the hands of our Super heroes(Political Leaders).
So, what has caused us to go for either of the above options, but not Hard work? The answer is, those old stupids from airforce have ruined the field to it's root. They work for low salaries, and have got the thing called 'Experience', which all the Airlines want today.

It has reached beyond limits, We have to raise our voices in unity against DGCA and bring pressure on it, so in turn it can pressure the Government of India, Then alone can we all can survive. This is not the time to regret why we entered this field without second thoughts. Because we all love Aircrafts, it's been our passion since we were small children. So guy's, first step in taking back what truly ours is, Stand United.

    That's what i think.

    Hi friends,
I would like to share my feeling on the point no.1 mentioned as "Aviation field is corrupted by Air force people because......they just entering into aviation and showing blady experience, and that's a great effect to young guns in the interviews............"
Due to their old gun actions only you are comfortably chatting on net and commenting. Instead of commenting the Air force personnel, find out why they are getting selected by the management. No one can block somebody's way. I feel there is some stuff and snag (knowledge & discipline) in their baldy head.
